Everything You Need to Know about Legoland (Billund, DK)

Living in Denmark with two small children would, of course, lead us to visiting LEGOLAND Billund! Heck, I think I would visit this place without kids! ๐Ÿ™‚ We talked about visiting Legoland for a long time with my two kids, since they are obsessed with the tiny building blocks. Luckily, we were given season passes one year, so we made it a necessity to visit as often as we could. It is from all of these visits (and many more) that I was able to create this awesome Legoland Denmark Itinerary!!

Tips for Before you Visit Legoland Denmark

Finding Discounts Before You Go

If you look on cereal boxes, Lego toy catalogs or even certain egg cartons, you will find coupons that get a child in free with a paid adult. It pays to do a bit of research ahead of time. There are other places where you can find discounts, so if you live in Denmark or know someone who does, see if you can get a coupon. Coupons are good!

Insider Tips for Enjoying Your Time at Legoland

You may also want to get a map before you get there to plan your attack. We now have the park memorized, which is helpful.

When you walk in, there are a bunch of stores right away. It would be good to talk with your kids about gifts. It saves a lot of hassle. We reason with our kids and say that there is no way we are going to buy something and have to carry it the entire day. It makes sense to them, especially if you tell them that they will be the ones carrying it. Works like a charm!

Along with a map, there may be some type of paper they give you when you buy tickets. It will have the kids look for clues throughout the park. When you have found them all, you can turn the card in for a prize at the large store by the entrance. It isn’t worth going crazy over, since it tends to be a cardboard hat or something, but it could get you out of buying something for your kids. Just an idea. T

his also is normally during summer hours, so if you are there in the spring or fall, this might not be something that is happening. It could also be something fun to do as an extra activity while you are in the park

When to Get There and Where to Park at Legoland

When traveling to Legoland, it is good to get there about 20 minutes or so before they open, so you can get a parking spot across the street. There is another, larger parking lot, which is great for campers and caravans just to the east. Both are quite near the entrance, and you must pay to park there. If you are going to be traveling to Legoland often, it is a good idea to buy a Season “parking” pass. Ask at information for more details.

Being Careful at the Entrance

When you get to the entrance of Legoland, Billund, you will probably want to take some photos but be careful, since the best place to take the pictures might be very close to an actual road. Don’t get hit by a bus! That is an order! It is also nice that there are bathrooms you can access from outside the gates. This is helpful if you have traveled a long way to get there and can’t wait until the gates open.

Exploring the Many Areas within Legoland Denmark

I really love how there are many different “lands” within Legoland. It gives families many different experiences in one place. I also like the different options for food and dining that often match whatever land you are in.

ย

Lego Friends

After the stores, you will find some great Lego displays. There is the Lego Friends ready for a photo op. Though this isn’t a large area, LEGO Friends is a very important category of LEGO bricks. I know that I quite like them. This part of the park has changed over the years, but you can almost always find your favorite LEGO Friends characters. There is also a LEGO Friends town with all of your favorite places from the shows and building sets.

Miniland at Legoland in Billund, Denmark

This is probably one of the most impressive displays of LEGO sets that I have seen. You can see famous streets in Copenhagen, castles from Germany, and so much more. It is like taking a trip around the world when you walk through the Miniland at Legoland Billund. You can also find an airport, harbor, and railroad with moving vehicles.

Though this area is a great place to spend some time, I would try to avoid it at first. As I said, have a plan! There may be very long wait times for different rides, so you might want to go to those first and leave this area for the end!

Miniland Rides

If you have smaller children, this is a great place to go to at Legoland Billund. There are some fun rides for the small to middle-sized kids that my boys really enjoyed when they were younger. The rides in this area are to the right of the Miniland buildings, instead of being in the middle. A nice thing about the rides in this section is that the lines are always short, since the rides are short and the workers keep the lines moving.
A favorite of my boys was the Frog Hopper, which is a ride where a row of children sit and go up and down like a frog jumping. It isn’t too high or too fast, so little kids can enjoy it.
The Caterpillar is another ride for smaller kids, but the parents can go with them on this ride. This one drives around in a fast circle. For me, I would vomit on such a ride, but my oldest son really enjoys it!
I prefer the LEGO Safari, where you can sit in a jeep and let your kids “drive” you on a safari to see the many animals of Africa.
There are also Miniboats, which are fun for a parent and child to drive down a narrow stream while looking at many of the world’s most impressive buildings that are made out of LEGO.

Riding on the LEGO Train and Other Modes of Transport at Legoland

If you love playing with the LEGO train set, you will love riding on the LEGO train. More like a real train, just with smaller cars, the LEGO train will take you all around Miniland and even past Duploland. It is a nice, short ride that drops you off where you started. Also, there is the Monorail, which is an even small type of elevated train without an engine. This takes you high above Duploland where you can see the people and rides below. The cars for the Monorail are much smaller, but can usually fit one child and one adult in each car.
We like these rides at the end of the day, since the lines are shorter and we are usually pretty tired by that point. The LEGOTOP is also nice for this reason. It is a tall tower with a spinning observation platform that is perfect for all members of the family. This is at the edge of Miniland where it meets Duploland.

Renault Traffic School

Though technically a part of Miniland, the Renault Traffic School seems to be an attraction all on its own. I have to say that when we first started going to Legoland, my kids were too young for this part of the park. The driving school lets children ages 6 to 13 ride around in small cars with an instructor to get their Legoland driver’s license. I have to admit that we were so excited when our boys were old enough to do the driving school together. Though this costs an extra fee, we thought it was so worth it.
If you get hungry at the driving school, you are in the middle between the food options for Duploland / Inspiration Zone and Miniland. For Miniland , you can choose between a Pizza and Pasta buffet, hotdog stand or ice cream parlor.

LEGO Ninjago World

My boys love Ninjago, so we always start in the Ninjago area first. This just so happens to be in the back of the park on the same side as the entrance, so it isn’t a complete haul. At the entrance to Ninjago World, there is a large pagoda that looks like it is from some Asian country. That is the cool thing about the park; it is separated by the different Lego themes. Here, you can train to be a ninja with a few different tasks, and you can also see life-size versions of the Ninjago characters. Some are made out of LEGO and others are walking around the Ninjago World.

Ninjago, the Ride

We head straight for “Ninjago, the ride” before we begin our training. This is one of those 3D rides where you sit in a car that never leaves the ground. You get to sit with three others, which is perfect or our family of four. With your 3D glasses, you can watch how your quick hand movements help you fight the bad guys. There is a sensor on the car which adds up your points, so you can see who won from your group. This is always good family fun.

Are you interested in other indoor attractions in Billund? Check out the LEGO House!

When my son was 4, he even loved this ride, but when we went on this ride with some good friends their 4-year-old daughter was a bit afraid. Just something to consider ahead of time.

ย

Ninja Training Courses

If your child isn’t into 3D rides, you can also do the training courses. One is called Lloyd’s Laser Maze, which is where you have to walk across a room of lasers as fast as you can without touching the lasers. This is located to the left of the entrance to “Ninjago, the ride”.

There is also Cole’s Climbing wall which is just outside as you enter the Ninjago World. Jay’s Reaction Game is also something that is outside of the main ride. Though the laser maze may have a longer line, the climbing wall and reaction game don’t have lines at all.

Duploland

On the way to the Ninjago World, we pass Duploland. The Duplo area is a great place for babies and smaller children. My boys were 4 and 7 on our first, family trip to Legoland, and they enjoyed this area. If you are afraid to take your small child to an amusement park, don’t fret with Legoland. They’ve got you covered! Toddlers will love Legoland, Billund because of Duploland. My kids still enjoy the little Ferris wheel and airplanes, which are a few of the rides you will find in Duploland. Children can also ride a small train here.

My boys also LOVE the giant Lego playhouses they can go in. This is just a playground that is made out of giant Legos. It could be a nice place to visit if the park is super crowded. There are no lines in the playground, which could give the kiddos a time for some much needed play.

Imagination Zone

The Imagination Zone at Legoland is in the far top-left corner of the map. Here, you will find many great snack shops that have candy and flavored, icy drinks, as well as a great restaurant called the Burger Kitchen. They have a veggie burger I would highly recommend. Also, there are plenty of picnic tables if you want a place to eat food you have brought from home. You can also spend time seeing some of the fun areas in the Imagination Zone.

Finding the Galaxy Far, Far Away

One area is the Star Wars section just outside Duploland. You can find all your favorite scenes and characters made out of Lego from episodes 4-6. There is also a large fighter ship in the very back of the park next to Ninjago World. You can push a button and hear it “take off”. This large ship is next to the theater and can be a cool place to check our before or after a movie!

If you are a Star Wars fan, you won’t want to miss this very cool section that has scenes and vehicles that were mostly from movies 4, 5 and 6. Being a child of the 1980s, I sometimes think that is section is more for moms and dads, who remember the thrill of Star Wars when it was new! My kids also really enjoy it, so it is a win-win!

ย

LEGO Studios 4D Cinema

LEGO Studios 4D Cinema is a fun theater, where you can watch a movie in 4D on the topics of Nexo Knights, Ninjago, the Lego Movie and more.ย  The theme of the movie may change from time to time. 4D is a step up from 3D, where you just wear special glasses. With 4D, you can actually smell what you are experiencing in the movie. You may also feel things like rain, snow or wind. It is a cool experience.

Insider tip: If you show up on time for the movie, you won’t be let in, so be sure to arrive at least 5 minutes early. They have different times throughout the day when the movies are in Danish, English and German. All take no more than 15 minutes and are well worth a try! You kids can play with the musical fountain while you wait in line for the movie. This fountain sprays water, but your child has the ability to change the sounds that water makes with different buttons set into the ground.

Atlantis by SEA LIFE at Legoland

One area that might get missed when you are out at Legoland is Atlantis by SEA LIFE. This is a cool place to see if you like sea creatures and the water. Atlantis is Legoland’s own aquarium with not only many different sea creatures, but there area also some cool LEGO characters and objects in the waters. At the end of this indoor section, you can also get up close and personal with some of the sea animals. Our niece really loved this part too!

Legoredo Town (Cowboy Town)

After Ninjago World, we normally go to the neighboring Legoredo Town, which is what we call “cowboy town”. Here, it feels like home! Hahah! I am a Yankee, through and through, but this is the “American west”, which is the only America I can get at Legoland. I’ll take it.

We LOVE the toy store in this section, because you can bring in any Lego figure you have bought in one of those mystery bags and exchange it for a different one. This place came in handy when we somehow managed to buy 2 pink Batmans. There is nothing wrong with pink Batmans, but we only need one. One is enough, so we traded the other one.

Indian Camp and Mining for Gold at Legoland

You can also visit the Indian Camp, where you can roast twisted dough on a stick called snobrรธd. It’s a Danish tradition for children, and it is a very unique experience for children who are not from Denmark. Why they have it in the “American section” is beyond me, but it allows the kids to cook over a fire. You have to pay for it, of course, but it isn’t much. You can also pan for gold at the LEGOLDMINE. This is another place that costs money, just so you know.

Rides at Legoredo Town at Legoland Billund

The LEGO Canoe ride is a water ride, which most amusement parks have. However, we love that during the calm part of this ride that you get to see many LEGO animals that are native to the USA.

There is also the Western Ride, which is a merry-go-round, that is located in the center of Legoredo Town.ย  When my kids were smaller, they liked to ride on the merry-go-round, and I still love that it plays American, country music!ย

Another fun ride in Legoredo Town is the Flying Eagle. This is a mini roller coaster by many standers, but it is one of the bigger ones by Legoland standers. It doesn’t take long to ride it, so they have it go around twice to make it worth the wait. We had a lot of fun on it.

What (else) Makes Legoredo Town a Unique Experience at Legoland Billund

Legoredo Town has some pretty amazing restaurants as well. You can spend a lot of money if you eat at one of the buffets with steaks, though. However, I like the Mexican place that has vegetarian wraps, but it is a shame that this restaurant isn’t open all days throughout the season. You can also find a place to buy hot dogs and one to get coffee and desserts. If you bring your own food, you will find plenty of tables to eat your food as well. There is an ATM in this area if you are in need of one, but all areas in Legoland take credit cards.

ย

As you are walking out of this area, you can find some really neat LEGO sculptures that are important to the American wild west. One of them is a mini Mount Rushmore, and another is a mountain carving of the Native American chief Sitting Bull. Other LEGO people that you’ll find throughout Legoredo are equally fun. Look for the naked man on the roof or the very busty lady sitting on a bench near the hotdog building.

Ghost: The Haunted House and Ride

Though technically a part of Legoredo Tow, “Ghost: the Haunted House” is attraction all on its own, in my opinion. At the fork in the road leading to cowboy town, pirate land and the Miniland, you will find a rather large, green mansion. This is a haunted house with a large drop ride inside the building. No one in my family has the stomach for that, so we just go through the house. It is actually really cool inside.

Your little one has to be a certain height to enter, which doesn’t include the ride. You get to find ghosts and witches and skeletons. It is super cool, since all of these characters are just large LEGO figures. Not to scary, if you ask me.

I was really curious about it once, and since the lines for it are always so long, I had never gone in. We were there one day when there wasn’t a line, so we tried it out. The house is so worth the visit. There is so much to see that would entertain the entire family, just not those timid little ones who don’t like ghosts and stuff. Just be aware that there are stairs involved, so leave the strollers outside.

Pirate Land at Legoland Billund in Denmark

Pirate Land is the next place on the path. I have mixed feelings about Pirate Land. On one hand, it is a lot of fun when it is warm out, because there are a lot of rides that have to do with water. On the other hand, this section often seems to be closed when we visit in the spring and fall. That could be a bummer if you have traveled a long way to get here for the pirate stuff, and then you discover the pirate area isn’t completely open.

We have been lucky enough to visit on some occasions when all the rides were open. The Pirate Splash Battle is fun, because you get to ride a pirate ship and shoot water cannons at the pirates in the other boats.

You can also ride a larger pirate ship that swings back and forth called the Pirate Wave Breaker.

They also have small, spinning boats like the tea cup ride at Disneyland. This is called the Pirate Carousel.

Something for every Pirate in the Family

A family favorite is simply called “Pirate Boat”. This is one of those rides that babies can go on, because it just requires people to sit in a boat and look at the scenery. Here you float to a pirate hideout. Everything is made out of Lego, which is really neat. There was a ride like this in Kings Island in Cincinnati when I was a kid, but it was with the Smurfs. I was never a roller coaster kind of girl, so that was my ultimate fav. Pirate Boats definitely brings back good memories!

Another section of Pirate Land that is great for those who aren’t so interested in roller coasters is the Lighthouse. This is a tall tower with chairs on the sides. If you feel that you want to test your strength, sit on one of the chairs and try to pull yourself up the lighthouse. It is a fun competition that you can do with others in your family that is great for even smaller children.

Insider Tips for Getting the Most out of Pirate Land

Sometimes, we also eat at the Captain Roger’s restaurant here. If you have season passes, you get discounts on food at some places. At that time, you could get a kid’s meal for free if you bought an adult meal. Since I’m a vegetarian, I need to scope out the places for my people. They have a falafel meal here, and fish is always a big hit with my family. The kid’s meal has more food than what you would find in traditional kid’s meals.

Just a tip! One thing also to keep in mind is that this restaurant tends to be closed often at Legoland, Billund in the spring and fall months when the water ride isn’t open. If you have your heart set on getting fish, visit the park in the summer. This area also has options for face painting, gifts, coffee and desserts, candy, hot dogs and many carnival-style games where you can win the giant donut pillow you’ve always wanted!

ย

Knight’s Kingdom

You know you are in the Knight’s Kingdom when you see the large, grey castle. This is not just the king’s home, but the home of “The Dragon”, a large LEGO dragon who guards his/her treasure. You can see the inside of the castle and the dragon when you ride “The Dragon” roller coaster. This is a small roller coaster, and doesn’t really reach any heights. The ride starts off slow, but as you leave the castle, it speeds up.
It is also a short ride, so if you have smaller children who are unsure about how they feel about roller coasters, they won’t have to think about it too long. After a couple of turns outside the castle, the ride is over. We thought it was a good ride to start our boys with when they started on roller coasters. In fact, we weren’t sure what my 6 year old would think, but he actually liked it.

Vikings River Splash Ride

Since not all royals were the Kind Arthur type, you can also find Vikings at Legoland. One of our favorite rides is the Vikings River Splash. This is much like the LEGO Canoe ride, since it starts slow and has a big drop at the end. However, this ride sits many people in a circle float that travels along a narrow path of Viking lands.
Would you like to learn more about Vikings? Check out the Viking Museum in nearby Ribe, Denmark!
We love the trill of seeing if anyone will actually get wet! There area always large, dryers (for humans) nearby the water attractions. You can pay to have yourself dried if you get really wet. That hasn’t happened to us yet, but it might be a good reason to bring your rain clothes, just in case. They also have a changing house if you want to change your clothes while you are there. This is closer to Pirate Land.

Princess Garden and Picnic Area

This area is also great for meeting a princess. Nearby the castle, you will find a small gazebo where Princesses visit at different times during the day. If you have a child who would love to meet a princess, there is an option for that. Just check the signs that are posted in this garden to find out when the princesses will be there. Also, there are many picnic tables in this section as well. If you bring your food or just want a place to take a break with one of the yummy snacks you can buy in or around the Knight’s Kingdom: popcorn, donuts, coffee, ice cream, etc., this is a great place for that.ย

Mini Castle Show at Legoland in Billund, Denmark

Across from the castle is a small, outdoor theater where you can watch a king, princess and wizard battling each other. It is always a nice excuse to take a break. We like to eat our ice cream here. Though it may be expensive, it is a must in my opinion. The Danes love to eat ice cream! If you stay to the end of the show, you can get your picture taken with the actors. It can be a fun picture for your little one. Check signs in this area of the part to find show times. If you are lucky to be there on one of the show days, you can see which time options there are for the shows.

The LEGO MOVIE World

The newest addition to the Legoland Amusement Park in Billund, Denmark is the LEGO MOVIE World. Since we have been to Legoland many times, we decided to start our last trip with the LEGO MOVIE World first. Since it is new, we thought that the lines would be pretty long with excited people wanting to try it out for the first time. We were right, since there were many lines forming at the time we left. We were glad to be one of the first ones in this section when the park opened!

The LEGO MOVIE World is like no other area in the park. When you step through the entrance, it feels as if you have stepped onto the LEGO MOVIE set. You might have to check a mirror to see if you have been turned into a Lego figure, because it feels so real.

What to expect at the LEGO MOVIE World section of Legoland

The coolest part about the LEGO MOVIE World is Emmet’s Flying Adventure. This ride is inside a building, since it involves a 3D screen. You sit on one of Emmet’s bunk bed couches and travel through the different lands within the LEGO MOVIE. You really feel like you are flying high above pirate ships, avoiding DUPLO monsters and soaring beside the stars in outer space. It is really a unique experience at Legoland Billund!

If you kids enjoyed the Frog Hopper in the Miniland, they will love the Unikitty’s Disco Drop ride.

However, if you have some thrill seekers in your group, they might like to try the Apocalypseburg Sky Battle, which is a spinning ride that takes you up and down in miniature airplanes.

This section really had something for all types of visitors, and I especially loved that there was Benny’s Playship, a spaceship playground for kids who just wanted to play. This is great for smaller kids up to bigger kids like my 11 year old. For me, the experience of walking down a LEGO city was cool enough!

Adventure Land

Adventure Land has some rides that are more interesting for the bigger kids and adults. If you look at the map, you will find the height requirements for different rides. It also shows that some rides require adults to go with children in order for children to be allowed. Xtreme Racers is one of the larger roller coasters that they have at Legoland Billund. This one is quite high and a bit fast, which might not be for everyone, since Legoland is more seen an amusement park that is better for smaller children.

Rides for All Adventurers at Legoland Billund

The other rides in the Adventure Land are on the ground and great for kids of all sizes. The Temple ride is another one of our favorite experiences at Legoland Billund. This ride is inside a large, Egyptian pyramid and always has short lines. Two people sit in a car that drives itself through the pyramid. Your job is to take your laser gun and shoot at the colorful dots that you find on skeletons and other areas. This isn’t a fast ride, and it can be great for smaller children. Adults can find it fun too!
Do you want to experience a unique experience in Billund? Check out the WOW PARK Treehouse Park that is close to Legoland.
They also have the Jungle Racers, that are kind of like speedsters that go over water. You aren’t actually over the water alone like in a boat. Instead, you stand holding a wheel that will whip you out over the water and back. They are only for two people at a time, but they are really fun!

Train to be a Fire Fighter at Legoland in Denmark

One thing that is a must for families would be the Fire Brigade. This isn’t really a ride, but an activity. You can be a large group working together for this one, so the lines move rather fast. You have to get your fire truck to the fire, put out the fire with water guns and then be the first to return in your fire truck. It is just for bragging rights, but it is a lot of fun!
There are more food options here as well. Hot dogs, candy, coffee and ice cream can be found nearly everywhere in the park, but Adventure Land in Legoland, Billund also has a great burger place called Outpost Burgers that serves veggie burgers as well as meat burgers. You can also find a Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream stand here, which is in addition the Danish ice cream stand!
You will not be lacking in places to get ice cream, but know that many of the food places in Adventure Land are closed in the colder months of April and October unless it is a special weekend.

Polar Land and Theme Stage

The last area in Legoland that is the farthest from the entrance is Polar Land. This place has a little bit of everything. They have real penguins at Penguin Bay that will entertain the little ones, a large roller coaster, and a ice pilot training school.

Proper Roller Coasters and Other Experiences at Legoland Billund

The Ice Pilots School, is a personal favorite of my older son. My younger son is too small for it, so big brother goes with dad. The ride is really a mechanical arm with a 2-seated chair. First, you get to program the ride to do where they want: up, down, spin, etc. and store the info on a card. You, then, take the card to the station and insert it by the machine. The computer will read the card and do what you programmed. It is kind of neat.

The roller coaster is called Polar X-plorer and is as proper a roller coaster as you can get in Legoland. This one has one of the the larger size requirements, goes quite fast and high, and has a drop. It is a lot of fun for an adult or bigger kid who loves the thrill of the ride!

There is a Pizza and Pasta Buffet here as well, but there are tons of places to eat a picnic lunch if you have one with you. Behind the Pizza and Pasta restaurant is the stage area. This is where special guests will perform all throughout the weekends in September and where they have special shows from the beginning of May to the middle of August.

Shopping at Legoland Billund

As I mentioned, we wait until the end of our trip to visit the stores. I just makes more sense than to buy something at the start of our day and have to carry it around. If you are near the entrance to Hotel Legoland and the Atlantis by SEA LIFE, you can find a discounted store. This has a variety of items for a cheaper price. It may be backpacks, clothes, swords, etc. You never know what you’ll find there.

The main LEGO Store is at the entrance to the park. Here, you can find nearly any LEGO set that you can think of. They have all the themes that are popular , and there are even some that you may never have heard of. You can also get extra things like keychains, lunchboxes, etc. There is a place for the kids to play just outside the store if you want to shop alone. I’m always happy that my kids are satisfied with getting a new catalog. Since we have season passes, we go often, which would make stopping at the store each time a rather expensive summer!

There is also a store that sells regular clothes called Kids Wear / Family Fashion. Stepping in this store feels more like being in a mall than at a Legoland amusement park. You can also find smaller shops in other areas of the park, like the one I mentioned at Legoredo Town. There is also one at the Knight’s Kingdom that sells LEGO sets and accessories for this theme. They have a similar shop at Ninjago World for Ninjago LEGO sets, as well.ย

Tips for Visiting Legoland Billund in Denmark

Smoking Areas at Legoland Billund: If you are a smoker, there are designated areas within the park where you can go to smoke. They are labeled on the map.ย

Entertaining the Kids While Waiting in Line: I have to say, Legoland makes waiting in line for rides an easy thing for kids. In all the long line areas, you will find a big box of LEGO bricks. The kids can play in this section while the adults wait in line. It is easy for parents to see their child at all points of the line, as well. When the parents move on to the end of the line, the kids can just join them.

Not having to deal with bored and whiny kids while waiting in line is a great thing. Legoland scores big points with this mom. I actually get to visit with my husband in line and not have to worry about the kids.

Reserve and Ride: If you want to avoid the lines all together, you can purchase a Reserve and Ride pass just inside the entrance to the park. This will allow you to move to a shorter line only for those with this special pass.

LEGOLAND Photo: On many of the rides, you get your picture taken. You can purchase these pictures at the end of the ride or at the Legoland Photo booth that is located close to the main store. There is also an area where there are scheduled photo opportunities with different LEGO figures.

Bathrooms at Legoland: There are bathrooms in every section of Legoland, so you never have to go far to use the facilities or to change a diaper. Changing stations are also all over the park. Each bathroom is also wheelchair assessible.

Legoland Billund Season Pass: If you plan to visit Legoland multiple times, it is worth getting the Legoland Season Pass. Not only will it make your trip cheaper each time you use it, but there are also many perks to being a season pass holder. As I mentioned before, you can get discounts on some food and drinks, which can really help the budget. There are also some times when the park is open just for season pass holders. Learn more about getting a Legoland Season Pass HERE!

Overall Thoughts about Legoland (Denmark)

This is a great place for a family. There are other amusement parks in Denmark that might be better for the bigger kids or those roller-coaster-crazed individuals, but we really like that Legoland has so much to offer the entire family. We like that there are many different food options for vegetarians, and the discounts with the season passes make it worth getting them. The different, themed areas are so much fun, and the entire park is clean diverse in its experiences. We would highly recommend a trip here for people of any age, especially those traveling to Billund with kids.

Hi! I'm Kelly, an American mom and wife to a Dane. After deciding to move to rural Denmark in 2016, I decided to share the highs and lows of expat life in Denmark with lots of fun family experiences and trips in Denmark to make it all a bit more interesting! :) Welcome to My New Danish Life!

    Hi Kelly,
We plan a visit to Billund only one day (road trip with limited time, we must make choice) and because we’ve already visited Legoland California in 2017 we chose to visit Lego House.
But on my French Lonely planet Guide, it is written that Legoland Entrance is free 30 minutes before the attractions close and because the park remains open one more hour after stopping the attractions, that means that we could have 1hour30 of free visit in the park (to see miniland for example).
Can you confirm that ? Is it truth ?
And can you tell how long people stay at Lego House ? Is it doable to visit Lego House during the day and finish at Legoland for the last hour and a half ?
    Thank you for your article.

You will love the Lego House. Did you check out my blog post for that? We spent almost the entire day there, but you can spend as much time as you want. I don’t know about the free entrance 30 minutes before, but if that is true, that should give you enough time to check out the Miniland. There won’t be anything else to do once the park closes, except maybe eat. Some of the restaurants might be open later. The distance from Lego House to Legoland is quite close since the entire town is small (only about 8000 citizens). If your children have one area they would like to try that you haven’t really seen before in California, you might want to consider planning that to be the first thing you do and leaving the Miniland for the very end! It might also be a good idea to call the park and talk to someone on the phone to know exactly what options you have for the end of the day. I hope this has helped some! ๐Ÿ™‚ Have a great time!

I don’t know of any of the top of my head, but we’ll be going there very soon. I’ll ask around and post of here if I find any! ๐Ÿ™‚
      Thanks for reading!
